Meet The Trainers/Therapists
Kayla Kowal, PT, DPT, CSCS
Exercise has been a staple in my life from a very young age. I started playing soccer when I was four years old and was fortunate enough to play collegiately at Maryville University for all four years of my undergrad career. The higher levels of high school and college brought me to the gym to improve myself off the field. Prior to "retirement", I would follow the lifting program our college team used but did not feel any benefits from the exercises listed out for us. I began to research lifts and exercises on my own and found how to best improve myself through more specific trainings. This change made me want to dive deeper into the exercise world and through talking to a professor in my Physical Therapy program at Maryville, I found the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association).
I knew I wanted to work with athletes once I graduated with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) and decided to further my education my studying for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam. I passed my exam in February of 2022, graduated with my DPT in December of 2022, and passed my licensing boards in January of 2023. I believe these two different outlooks on physical activity help me to provide person-specific exercises based off of goals, weaknesses, and function.
Everyone is an athlete and I can help you cultivate a lasting relationship with exercise. I look forward to working with you!
